Qantas has increased the size of its Qantas Club in Terminal 4 at Perth Airport and hinted that a new facility for business travelers is to come in the future. The lounge, between gates 13 and 14, has been expanded by 400 sq. feet by adding more space on the level below, including extra business and catering amenities.
According to Domestic Executive Manager Samantha Taranto, it comes in response to the “growing demand for premium air travel, particularly from corporate clients and business travellers.”
Perhaps in response to Virgin Australia’s recent commencement of an overhaul and improvement of its Australian lounges, Qantas Domestic CEO Lyell Strambi has since gone on to suggest that is not all that the airline has in store for Perth. Once Virgin relocates to a new Terminal 1 ‘pier’ in 2014, Qantas may well announce exciting plans to create a home for their business and elite passengers in the space left behind.
Qantas will have a dedicated area for themselves and their subsidiary companies, something that will allow them to reorganize and add to their lounges. “The first piece will be better use of the Alliance area that’s liberated, but the second step might be a longer-term solution that might be a little more grand,” said Strambi.
