Virgin Australia has launched a prepaid travel money card, called Global Wallet, for its Velocity frequent flyer program members that offers points rewards on purchases and expenditures made with the card.
The card, designed in partnership with Visa, will allow users to earn 1 Point for every $2 spent in Australia and 1 Point for every $1 spent outside the country. The card will be on one side of the redesigned Velocity membership card.
Card users will be able to load and store money on the card in Australian dollars as well as in any four of the nine other supported foreign currencies at one time in individual currency wallets.
The supported currencies are the US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Euro, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen, New Zealand Dollar, Pound Sterling, Singapore Dollar and Thai Baht.
Cardholders will be able to make purchases at any of the over 30 million locations around the world where Visa is accepted and can also withdraw funds at over 2 million ATMs in Australia and around the world.
Virgin Australia has launched a free Global Wallet app for Android and Apple iOS smartphones/tablets that give users easy access to their card’s transaction history, account balance and enable users to move money between individual currency wallets on the card.
