Virgin Australia has announced an expansion of 80 percent in the number of hotels partners for its Velocity frequent flier program.
Virgin has added 28 new hotel brands to the program and Velocity frequent fliers can now earn Points while staying at hotels on nearly every continent in the world.
The new hotel chains added to the program include some of the most well-known and luxurious hotels in the world including the Langham Hospitality Group, Taj Group (based in India), Jumeirah Group (UAE based) and Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia.
Voyages’ properties include Ayers Rock Resort and Longitude 131˚ near Uluru and Home Valley Station in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Virgin has recently also upgraded the Velocity program to include using Points for on-the-spot-upgrades in lounges and earning Points through travel by members’ pets.
Velocity is also partnering with the car service firm Midas, enabling members to be rewarded on servicing their cars at its facilities.
