Virgin Australia has launched a wireless in-flight entertainment service on-board its aircraft that allows passengers to stream content to their personal devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets.
The streaming content can be accessed through the free “In-flight Entertainment by Virgin Australia” app on a Android/Apple smartphone or tablet, or on a Windows laptop after installing the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight. (Note: The app must be activated via the internet before boarding your flight.)
The new service is now available on 37 Virgin Australia aircraft flying on its domestic and short-haul international routes, including on routes from Australia to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The airline claims that it is the first to offer streaming entertainment content in the Asia Pacific region.
Virgin Australia expects to complete the roll-out across its Boeing 737-800 and Embraer E190 fleet before the end of this year.
