Virgin Australia recently surprised passengers on-board a flight from Sydney to Perth with a high tea service at 40,000 feet.
Customers on-board VA555 were treated to a traditional tiered-tray high tea service by the airline’s resident chef, Luke Mangan.
The unique tea service involved “baking more than 300 scones with homemade preserves and cream, making more than 580 ribbon sandwiches and brewing more than 270 cups of English Breakfast tea” for service to the passengers.
The special flight marked Luke Mangan’s anniversary of three years with Virgin Australia and the airline’s introduction of its seventh Airbus A330 aircraft into its fleet.
Virgin Australia will operate all of its weekday transcontinental flights – from Sydney to Perth and Melbourne to Perth – and two out of three Brisbane to Perth weekday flights with the A330 aircraft.
Virgin Australia Airbus A330s offer lie-flat seats in Business Class, dual-lane service, luxury leather seating for all cabins and LED mood lighting.
