Rydges – a first for the city’s airport
Come May, Sydney Airport will have its first terminal hotel, courtesy of the forthcoming unveiling of the Rydges Sydney Airport Hotel. The four-and-a-half star, 318-room facility will offer travelers seven choices of room options as well as dining and business facilities. Many of the rooms will have stunning views of the main runway and the city skyline, whilst being shielded from noise by special glass in the windows.
Located adjacent to the International Terminal at the airport, the Rydges will be the only hotel walking distance from a terminal. Other hotels are close to the airport, but require a shuttle (always additional cost) to reach the airport terminals.
Bookings are now being taken for the AU$70 million development. General Manager Tish Nyar said, “The hotel is set to be a hub not just for travellers, but also interstate and overseas business guests…[it] is the perfect location for people coming to Sydney and looking for somewhere to hold a meeting or function.”
Indeed it will feature over 11 different conference and meeting facilities, including rooftop spaces. Its restaurant, the Blackwhattle Grill will showcase the finest Australian cuisine and fresh produce, also offering lighter bites for those preparing to board a flight. Elsewhere, the Champs Sports Bar will provide a more relaxed atmosphere in which to unwind.
