Virgin Australia officially opened its first lounge at the Cairns Airport in Tropical North Queensland, Australia on November 1.
The lounge is located on the upper level of T2, the domestic terminal and seats 180 guests. With spacious floor-to-ceiling views across the tarmac to the hinterland, the lounge’s interior furnishings covey the warmth and richness of the region.
Features of the lounge include dedicated relaxation areas, a meeting room, complementary WiFi, a printer and power stations, a variety of entertainment options, a gourmet buffet designed by renowned chef Luke Mangan, premium choices of wine and beer and a barista station.
The airline currently flies to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Townsville from Cairns.
Virgin Australia opened a new 300-seat lounge in the west wing of the domestic terminal at the Canberra Airport in March of this year. It is also expanding its lounge at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport and has plans to open a lounge at the Hobart Airport in 2014.
