Is it any wonder that international visitor arrivals to New Zealand were up by nearly six percent during the month of July compared to last year? New Zealand has become known worldwide for fantastic vacation experiences!
In addition to the publicity the country received from Peter Jackson’s the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the release of his first movie in The Hobbit trilogy, New Zealand is known for its spell-binding scenery, fine wines and craft beers, extreme adventures, a relaxing lifestyle and super-friendly people.
The total number of arrivals in July was a record 183,000 visitors – the highest ever number for the month and 5.9 percent higher than July 2012. While certainly an active winter sports season helped to account for the increase, vacationers are learning that they’ll find activities in New Zealand to suit their interests every time of year.
Visitor arrivals from the United States increased by 11.5 percent; from Germany the increase was 8.6 percent and visitors from the UK increased by 21.6 percent. Arrivals from China were up by 25.2 per cent while arrivals from Singapore were higher by 11.3 per cent.
July also saw the generation of an additional 83,000 vacation stay days compared to July 2012. Our guess is that visitors will increasingly travel Downunder – and stay longer – to discover Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud.
