QantasLink, the regional subsidiary of Qantas, plans to fly upgraded Boeing 717 aircraft with Business Class and in-flight entertainment for all passengers on all flights between the Tasmanian capital, Hobart and mainland Australia.
The upgraded aircraft will be used on Hobart to Sydney and Hobart to Melbourne routes from mid-2014 – and will be based in Hobart. The routes are currently served by Qantas Boeing 737 and QantasLink’s Q400 aircraft.
QantasLink is currently upgrading five of its Boeing 717 aircraft with Business class and individual entertainment for both economy and business class through seatback iPads. The upgraded aircraft will initially be used for flights on the Sydney to Canberra, Brisbane to Canberra and Melbourne to Canberra routes.
Qantas Domestic’s remaining 13 Boeing 717 planes are being upgraded with new interiors in an all-economy class configuration for flights elsewhere within Australia.
