If you’re departing from Auckland Airport with too much time before your flight, here’s something to pass the time – and help ensure a good sleep on your flight. Auckland Airport has opened a nearly 5 kilometers (3 miles) long Runway Mountain Bike Park, which has been designed for everyone from beginners through to advanced riders.
The park features a network of different tracks with runway views, including a 50-meter pump track for those wishing to improve their riding abilities and get a full workout.
Mountain bikes will be available for rental at the park.
The Runway Mountain Bike Park is located behind the Airport Shopping Centre, which features a range of eateries and shops, including an Icebreaker Outlet Store, in The District area at the airport. The District also features sculptures from the newly opened outdoor Art Gallery that showcases works by 11 New Zealand artists.
The District is a business park owned and developed by Auckland International Airport Limited. It currently has 303,000 sq meters of developed business area and includes hotels, retail, office space, warehousing, and recreational facilities.
