Air New Zealand will operate 3 additional weekly flights from San Francisco to Auckland, New Zealand during the 2015 peak travel season.
The twice daily non-stop flights to Auckland will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from mid-December through March. Air New Zealand will also operate 17 flights a week from Los Angeles to Auckland during the peak period.
The additional flights will allow more connection options for non-stop flights to New Zealand from the US – especially for connections to the East Coast on your return flights. The extra flights are scheduled to depart from Auckland in the mid-afternoon, at 3.30 pm, and arrive in San Francisco at 6.45 am the same day.
The early arrival will allow ample time to clear US customs and immigration in San Francisco before connecting to a choice of flights to return to your home city. Air New Zealand’s partner for flights across the US to San Francisco is United Airlines.
As most transcontinental flights depart in the morning, the early arrival time for the flights from Auckland to San Francisco will provide more choices for travelers heading to major East Coast cities like Miami, Washington DC, the New York City area and Boston.
The new flights will be possible with the addition of two new Boeing 777-300 aircraft to Air New Zealand’s fleet later in the year.
The new aircraft will operate 2 flights per day between Los Angeles and Auckland and 6 days per week between San Francisco and Auckland.
The Business Class Premier cabin features on the Boeing 777-300 includes 6-foot 6-inch long and 22-inch wide fully-flat bed convertible seats, 12.1-inch entertainment displays with noise cancellation headphones, and premium dining with fine New Zealand wines.
The use of the new aircraft will allow passengers from the US to enjoy Air New Zealand’s award-winning Premium Economy Spaceseat and Economy Skycouch on flights from San Francisco to Auckland for the first time.
The spacious Spaceseat prevents the passenger seating in front of you to recline into your personal space as the seat reclines into a shell that slides forward.
Air New Zealand’s Boeing 777-300ER Premium Economy class won all Premium Economy awards – best Premium Economy class, best Premium Economy seat and best Premium Economy catering – by air travel rating site, SkyTrax in 2013.
Air New Zealand was also recently rated as the second safest airline in the world after Qantas by AirlineRatings.com.
